ORTV, a production company in Soho, are currently developing a film for the BBC about the challenges of being a lesbian and a mother.

The film will tell the stories of three to four families in which the mother has come out after having children. It will hope to capture, in a sensitive and thoughtful way, the human drama that this sometimes involves. They hope it will be an uplifting and inspiring film, as well as tackling a number of stereotypes and misconceptions surrounding same sex attraction and parenthood.

Lesbians on TV? Huh? What are they? I recall some well-groomed women having lots of sex in LA… or perhaps some cringeworthy soap characters ‘having a lesbian moment’, writes Chloe Setter. But a show that’s about gay women, on British TV, set in the UK? It’s only 2010 – that’s way too forward-thinking.
